Monotone

Definition

A flat delivery with little variation in pitch, emphasis, or pace.

In depth

Even great content loses the room when it's monotone — the audience tunes out. Just stressing key words or varying your sentence-ending intonation changes how it lands. It's not about volume; it's about variation.

Tip

Re-read the same sentence 'stressing only the underlined word' to practice variation.
