STAR method

Definition

A framework that structures an experience into Situation, Task, Action, and Result — used mainly for interview behavioral questions.

In depth

It turns a rambling anecdote into a clear 'what I did and what came of it.' Of the four steps, spending most of your time on the Action is the key — what the interviewer wants to see is what you actually did.

Tip

Close the Result with a number or a lesson learned wherever you can.
